around the internet

Don't you love when you stumble on something that seems just brilliant? I thought I'd share some of my favorites recently. Some are inspirational, some are cute, and some are downright hilarious!

Happy (rainy) Wednesday, y'all! :)

a day in the dog's life (part 1) - Baylie tells all!

Hello, readers. I stole the computer today and am spilling the truth about my owners. You ready?

This is Nathan. I live with him. We recently moved and now I get to run free almost all the time on his farm. It's the best! Don't tell Kaylyn, but he's my favorite. I have practically stayed by his feet for the past year and a half of my life. We have lots of fun together and he feeds me every single day. He's trained me to go fetch ducks in the water. For some reason, they get a big kick out of it and thank me every single time. Whatevs. I just like to get in the water and taste some duck. Mmmmm.

This is Kaylyn. She treats me like a big baby and I soak in every bit of it. She sneaks me junk food all the time and lets me fetch the ball however I want. She's definitely not as strict as Nathan and I know I can get away with a lot more when she's around. In fact, I make a point every single time I see her to jump on her. I know I shouldn't do it, but unlike Nathan, all she's going to do is frantically wipe my paw prints off her clothes. I sorta think it's funny.

They're both great and I have an awesome life!

They let me ride around in the truck bed a lot and we go to the river when it's hot. There's something a leeeeettle weird about them though. They introduce me to all kinds of animals. Let's relive the moments.

Here's my first trip to Lake Malone. I was scouting out some artificial fishing worms here. They have a nice salty taste.

Then I got to meet an actual fish. I smelled of it then gave it a big lick to see what it tasted like. Kaylyn thought it was the sweetest thing and told me to give it a kiss again. Who are these people? I don't kiss fish. I eat them, lady.

Here I am doing some "work" with Nathan. He was doing some practice drills with me for duck season. I think this was last year. It was extremely muddy and I needed a good bath after this drill. Guess who I jumped on first?!? ;)

This is Kaylyn's first longbeard. I wasn't sure why this thing was so big, but I'm telling ya, it smelled quite delicious. While they were skinning up some meat, I outsmarted them again and stole a piece. Humans think they're so smart.

This, my friends, is my #1 favorite treat. A pig ear. The saliva is starting to pour already. I know Nathan and Kaylyn love me when I get one of these. Too bad they haven't introduced me to a pig yet.

I think that pretty much sums up my life. It's great, like I told ya. I pretty much run everything -- even since they got a new puppy. He knows who's boss and so do I.

I have to wrap this up before Nathan sees, quickly!

Only one more thing to say. I'm ready for duck season so I can show up all these boys. They only think they know everything. Pshhh! Ok, gotta go. Woof!

'twas the night before gun season

Tomorrow should practically be declared a national holiday around my part of the country. The opening day of firearm season for deer.

This gal is too big of a wimp to pull back a bow so I'm sticking to my guns and ammo, unlike my significant other. I have all my camo laid out and my survival bag packed. Let's review the contents of the bag.

--Essential reading materials. Redbook, several Christmas catalogs, Country Sampler Christmas Issue, and a reading assignment for one of my classes. I'm regretting throwing away all of my Cosmo's now.
--A plethora of snacks and drinks. This girl doesn't go anywhere without a healthy stash of food. Ya never know how long you'll be stuck in the woods.
--My iPhone. Fully charged!
--Toilet paper. No explanation needed for that.
--And finally, my favorite Mary Kay lip gloss and mascara. I don't care how much I love hunting... I still love my make-up ;)

To all my fellow female hunters, practice safety and conservation rules and show the boys how it's done!

And, to all you non-hunters, enjoy your warm bed in the morning as I will be freezing in the deer blind with my favorite boy. True love, y'all.

ahead of the game (for now)

I am extremely proud of myself. On this day, I ordered my first Christmas present and have officially marked someone off my list! I got the ball rolling and I feel good :)

I have my list made out completely, which is a job itself, and am already scouting out sale ads for Black Friday. Yes, I am one of those idiots.

This Christmas will be fun because I'll get to help Nate fix up his place. We've already discussed where the tree will go and I'm hoping to run over some cheap ornaments on Black Friday as well. It'll be fun to see him help do that stuff ;)

On another note, Emily and I just had an interesting conversation. After her blog post about "Mrs. Coach". Someone made my day by making me aware that they are going to make a movie sequel with the characters from the last season of the TV show. Yup, it's true! Just google Friday Night Lights movie sequel. I know my Mom is excited about that one ;)

Well, this post is a bit more random than I planned. Let's continue.

So, I'm pretty much obsessed with Branley Gilbert now after I got his new CD and looked at the pictures.

'Nuff said.

I am off to go get ahead on some homework. Happy Tuesday :)

review of iPhone pics

Told y'all I was obsessed with that gadget. Here are a few pics from the past week:

Halloween 2011. Lily was a WKU cheerleader. Yea, I flipped out when I found that one out :) She was absolutely adorable -- even though I never got her to smile for me!

This is the sign I was talking about in my last post. I mean, seriously, I put this together in about an hour and all the materials were just laying around the house. I am extremely pleased! Just to clarify -- Nathan loves when I adorn his door with girly crafts like this. It just absolutely makes his day ;) (You can also see my mom's tin can collection. She's an excellent decorater, y'all!)

Here's a pic of me in Nate's camo jacket with our "babies." I absolutely love this picture! I'm afraid this is going to become quite regular since they are both spoiled rotten... I'm not complaining one bit though :)

That picture was actually taken last night at the surprise party. We all had a great time! The potato soup was completely gone by the end of the night and I have to give a huge thanks to my Mom -- I need to cooking skills ASAP. We also had a DQ ice cream cake, oreo balls, and pumpkin chip cupcakes. We chilled inside and talked for quite a while then made our way out to the garage and watched the boys work on the boat as they prepare for duck season. It was a beautiful afternoon! We're so blessed to have such awesome friends :)

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and the work week is getting started off right! Happy Monday!

miranda, a sign, and a party

Hey y'all! Sorry for my absence over the past few days :) I hope life has been treating you all well. Have I told ya yet that I got an iPhone last week? Yea, pretty much in love with it and I hate that I'm admitting that. Moving on...

I just have a few things to write about. The first (and most important) is Miranda's new album. I picked up this bad boy ASAP after it came out on Tuesday.

I have to be honest that I was kind of leery about the new album. I was, and still am, practically obsessed with her album "Revolution." It's one of my absolute favorite CDs of all-time! I listened through it the first time and was surprised at how different each of the songs sound, but I am totally loving it! My favorites right now are "Safe", "Mama's Broken Heart", and "Over You." Go get your copy now! Oh yeah, have I ever mentioned that I love Miranda Lambert?! ;)

I got crafty again tonight. My rag wreath that I made last month didn't withstand my expectations. Every time I passed by, I had to rearrange the fabric because it kept falling down. I eventually just took it down and I felt like I needed something before Christmas decorations are put up. So, I made the best of some things we have laying around our house. Basically all I used was a piece of scrap wood, black spray paint, cream craft paint, and scrap fabric. I tried sending myself a picture but it didn't go through. I'll try that again and put up pics soon :) I'm totally in love with it!

Tomorrow, we're having a surprise birthday party for one of Nathan's best friends. I've never been involved with throwing a surprise party so this should be interesting. PLUS I'm fixing potato soup which I've never even attempted before -- thank God that my mom will be here to supervise! Nathan and I are both pretty good at keeping secrets (not sure if that's good or bad) so we think he doesn't have a clue. Maybe I'll get a really hilarious video of it :)

On a side note, I have to ask for y'alls prayers. I will not go into specific details but my family experienced a big shock earlier this week and would appreciate all the prayers we can get! We are all in this together and that's the most important thing. God has sent us several signs over the past week and we have no doubt that he has something bigger in his plan. I'm just so grateful to have such an awesome family :)

There's always, always, always something to be thankful for!

new kid on the block

Meet our new friend, y'all...

This sweet little boy is a bloodhound/red-bone-coonhound mix. He has quite the bark and literally smells everything. We named him Boone :) Baylie is taking to him fairly well. I can't wait to get my hands on him again this weekend!

By the way, can y'all believe it's November?!

whatcha lookin' for?
